I just ran across this cool offer a couple days ago and decided I had to tell you about it.

One of my top 5 supplements of all time, Juvenon, is now available with a free trial. (I’ll link to that post soon, just have to find it)

Let me explain why this is exciting.

If you’ve seen a lot of the free trial offers for health supplements before, you’ve probably noticed a lot of them are of inferior quality and are just trying to capitalize on the name recognition of the key ingredient.

This isn’t the case here.

Here are the key ingredients in Juvenon: Acetyl L Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid

Recognize either of them?

Unless you’re really into natural health and supplements like me, probably not.

However, here’s the cool part. Unlike most other supplements whose claims are based on piles of anecdotal evidence and “old wives tails” about the “efficacy” of the product, this product is actually built 100% on science.

There are no magical fillers like “acai,” or “resveratrol.” It doesn’t help you lose weight or cleanse your colon. It doesn’t have some artificially high rating on the ORAC scale and it won’t help you

And that’s precisely why it’s awesome. It doesn’t rely on ridiculous claims, but yet, once you try it for a month, you’ll want to keep using it.

I spoke to their CEO on the phone a couple years ago and we were discussing their product and marketing strategies (I’m a consultant by trade) and I came out of my meeting with him quite impressed with what they’re trying to accomplish, and for a physicist, Nathan is surprisingly easy to talk to.

I wholeheartedly recommend trying this product out. I use it personally and have been a fan since 2005. I think you will be too.

Straight out of the Amazon rainforest (again) comes a new superfood from the Cupuaco tree. It’s actually spelled Cupuaçu, but since we don’t use the “ç” character in English, I’m going with the spelling that doesn’t require my character map.

If you’re curious, so far I’ve found it’s pronounced “coo-pwah-sue” and so far they’re claiming it can help slow aging.

I haven’t found many products on the market yet, but here is one I have found and they’re letting you try a bottle of it for free to see if it’ll help you since it is a brand new product. It’s called CupuacuVital.

I have to say it makes sense since I know people tend to get really stressed out this time of year.

Instead of being filled with caffeine, taurine and a bunch of other stuff to have you running around doing 25 things at once, the iChill relaxation shot has ingredients like melatonin, rose hips, and valerian root which are all supposed to help you relax.

It comes in a “blissful berry” flavor which I haven’t had a chance to personally try yet, but it sounds pretty good (blueberry and raspberry and strawberry flavor).

If you want to check it out, they’re giving away two bottles when you order a case of the stuff and they’re throwing in free shipping. If you do get a chance to try it, please post in the comments what you think about it, I’m curious.

My mom recently called me up looking for advice on a water bottle.

She had heard about all about how plastic water bottles can pose a serious health threat especially if you use them every day and wanted a better alternative.

So I recommended a stainless steel water bottle. Not only are they better for you from a health standpoint, they’re a heck of a lot better for the environment.

Did you know that 400 billion (yes, with a “b”) plastic water bottles find their way into landfills every year?

Anyway, the stainless steel water bottle I recommend is the EcoCanteen.

It’s a pretty sweet water bottle (and it’s reasonably priced too).

It has a clip on the top so it’ll attach to a backpack or pretty much anything easily. This is one of those really underrated features for a water bottle, and a simple one to include, but most don’t do it.

And unlike with reusable plastic water bottles, this water bottle is dishwasher safe. (If you have a hard plastic water bottle, don’t put it in the dishwasher, it etches the plastic which makes it leach more chemicals into your water.)

And I’ve worked out a deal for readers of NearlyHealthy.com to get it for just $9.95 – about half of what I’ve seen a lot of stainless steel water bottles selling for in the store.

Thought I may as well kick things off with a review of a “healthy recipe” cookbook since that’s what this site was originally dedicated to.

So I’m posting my uncensored review of the “Healthy Urban Kitchen Cookbook.”

Note this is a review, if you’re looking for the official Healthy Urban Kitchen Cookbook, you can find that by clicking here.

Why am I writing this? Well, when I was thinking about buying this book, there weren’t really any real reviews out there for it, so I thought I should write one up quickly to help people who are in the same position I was.

Just to let you know, however, I’ll be going over both the good and the bad so if you only want me to sugarcoat it, well, you probably won’t like what I have to say today.

I think I’ve seen just about every diet imaginable and I have to tell you that a lot of the junk being promoted as healthy is absolute garbage.

The people promoting Weight Watchers foods and Nutrisystem foods as “healthy” should be thrown in jail… but I’ll save that tyrade for another day.

Here’s what I really liked about the Healthy Urban Kitchen Cookbook.

I really like the approach that “eating healthy and losing weight should be enjoyable, not like a math class.”

Too many times diet plans, and cookbooks will have you counting calories all day long.

This book doesn’t do that.

And it doesn’t assume you want to be a bunny and eat carrots and kale all day long. You still get to eat a lot of great food when following the recipes.

Probably the one downside to this cookbook is that there can be some added prep time to making the recipes compared to if you were using a box so if you’re short on time, a lot of these recipes aren’t going to work. It definitely takes more time than going to McDonald’s or KFC.

But other than that, I have to say it’s an excellent book, and definitely worth the money.

Here’s the link to the official website if you’d like to check it out.

I want to say thanks for stopping by NearlyHealthy.com.

I know it can be challenging to change your diet and the way you eat, so congratulate yourself just for making it this far.

NearlyHealthy.com is under construction right now so I hope you’ll excuse our dust while we remodel things a bit.

You probably came here looking for some more healthy recipes so let me give you one of my favorite tips next time you’re craving dessert.

Instead, try eating fruit. My favorite dessert fruit is pineapple, but who knows you may find you’d rather eat a container of strawberries or half a watermelon. And the nice thing about eating fruit is that it’s filling and you can eat it without feeling guilty – don’t let anybody tell you different – fruit is good for you.

Enjoy it raw whenever you can since that’s how it’s going to be healthiest for you.

If you’d like to learn more about fruit and why eating raw foods is so darn good for you, then check out this raw food diet website. It’s a diet that I highly recommend and follow myself. It may sound impossibly hard at first especially to a meat eater so I can appreciate if you think I’m off my rocker, but I thought exactly the same thing at first.

There was no way I was going to try one of those crazy new age hippy diets! But after reading about the incredible results and incredible energy people were reporting after giving it a try I decided that I had nothing to lose and gave it a try myself. Now I look at as not just a diet but a healthy way to live.

If you’re really looking to lose weight, and you’re not quite ready to give the whole raw thing a try, then here are a few that are still effective.

One that was surprisingly effective even though it sounded really strange to me at first was the Fat Loss 4 Idiots Program, but after me and a couple family members gave it a try we all lose more than 6 lbs in two weeks, and one of us even lost 10 in 14 days so it was pretty impressive.

The next one that I’d recommend especially if getting healthy is important to you (and not just losing a few pounds) is Top Secret Fat Loss Secret. This diet isn’t so much a diet but about adding more fiber and cleaning out your colon. I won’t go into it here, but it can help you lose a bunch of weight quickly, and you’ll be amazed at how much better you end up feeling.

Then there’s the Eat Stop Eat program. It’s a diet designed to take advantage of the principle of intermittent fasting (yes, that’s not eating). Instead of doing prolonged fasts which are extremely difficult especially if you have a job or are going to be around people, you do short little fasts that are still effective.

The last two I’m going to mention are two that I’m a big fan of. The first is the Acid Alkaline Diet which will have you eating a whole lot more healthy fruits and vegetables, and a whole lot less steak and eggs because they’re acidic foods and not so good for you. The next is one that will sound pretty extreme at first, but it’s also quite effective – it’s Master Cleanse Secrets, and it’s probably the quickest way to drop up to 20 lbs of all the diets listed here – either that or trying a quality Acai Berry supplement. For anti-aging, I really like resveratrol supplements.
